John Abraham, a professor of thermal sciences at the University of St. Thomas in Minnesota, took eight months to research and produce a thorough debunking of a talk given by notorious climate-change denier Lord Christopher Monckton. Monckton, whose credentials include degrees in classics and journalism (but none in any scientific field) is a prolific producer of nonsense on climate matters. Taking it all apart in a thorough and rigorous manner is quite a task, and I thank Dr. Abraham for this important work.
You can see Abraham's presentation here (it's very much worth a look): http://www.stthomas.edu/...
Dr. Abraham not only exposes the fraud and error underlying Monckton's "work", he provides excellent teaching on how non-scientists can evaluate these claims.
Having his "work" publicly refuted has caused Monckton to flip his wig (which I think was never on very well to begin with). He wrote a screed of a response that consisted of nearly 500 questions Abraham is supposed to answer (of course few of these questions have any bearing on Abraham's actual critique). He has also demanded that the University of St. Thomas remove Abraham's presentation from its server, and that they pay a cash ransom of $110,000 to the charity of Monckton's choice. As George Monbiot says, "Monckton's response to John Abraham is magnificently bonkers." http://www.guardian.co.uk/...

Yaaaaaaaaaaaay, science!
Update: The University of St. Thomas has responded to Monckton's delusional demands, in the most satisfying manner possible:
